Yamaha 321 Euphonium for sale
For Sale: YEP-321. This 4-valve, silver-plated Yamaha Euphonium comes with a slightly larger leadpipe than standard. It is a beautiful instrument I am very reluctant to give up but I have had some unexpected, major medical bills that have essentially wiped me out. While I would like to sell this instrument for $2000 knowing that the instrument new is several hundred dollars more than this, I will listen to any reasonable offer. What's the verdict of the large leadpipe - it's not a small leadpipe to start with (small shank but the reciever ends pretty large.

A number of players that own a YEP-321 have the lead-pipe (or receiver) switched out to a large shank. That's regarded as a plus because it offers more mpc choices. Not sure if the OP means large or does he mean European sized?

The understanding I now have of this instrument is that it was a "321 S". However, it was changed out so that the lead pipe was upgraded to a standard size (which makes it a regular 321) but also allows it to accommodate a wider variety of mouthpiece sizes.
I don't mind the questions about this because I don't know much about euphonium equipment. So, if this remains unclear, do mention something. Thanks.

The 'S' usually means silver plate in Yamaha's model numbering system. If you mean the lead-pipe was changed out to accept a large shank or bass trombone mpc, then that's viewed as a good change. The stock 321s come with a small sized lead-pipe that takes a small or tenor shank T-bone mpc. Thanks.
