For Sale/Trade: Jay Eb sousaphone w/case & stand

Post by Dave Seip »

I have a Jay Eb sousaphone I picked up a couple years ago. I'm not familiar with the brand but it seems to be 40s vintage? I'm looking to either sell it or trade it for a BBb sousaphone. It's a good horn but just not the right tool for what I tend to use it for. I'm asking $300 plus shipping. I've posted a couple pictures below, although they are from when I first got it before I cleaned and fixed it up some. I can post more when I get home if wanted.

Harry B Jay made nice horns...according to Horn-U-Copia, c. 1910-1946. There was a nifty little HB Jay silver 4v front piston CC tuba in Ithaca years back....

Does it come with bits? Does it take a standard shank mouthpiece or one of the smaller shanks that often go with older, smaller Eb horns?
