SOLD: York Eb 5V Rusk's Own FS

Post by stevennorsworthy »

York 5V Eb personally owned and played by Bob Rusk FS. When Bob passed away in 2013, I bought it from Baltimore Brass where it was consigned by Bob's estate. It is quite simply one of a kind. Finished in a beautiful combination of matte/gloss silver, it has Bob's hand engraving on it as you can see in the photos. This tuba has a 19" bell and produces a sound as large as many 4/4 CC's out there. It has a super clear and singing sound, uniquely York. Consider owning this as a good all around instrument that would be unrivaled as a solo horn. It also is an 'investment' given its history. Asking $6500. Located in San Diego.

Think of this as an investment that will go up in value over time. Normal production tubas just depreciate. Everyone tries to duplicate the York and they cannot because they can’t get the same metallurgy and the super thin metal York used. You can’t rest this tuba bell down for any length of time because it will buckle the bell!

I am a pro trombonist who doubles on tuba, and made a couple of except tracks you can hear, but don't judge me too harshly! You can at least get a sense of the sound and vibrance of this magnificent instrument. Links below:

And it sounds like a smaller-voiced version of Jacob's CSO 6/4 CC, even sweeter in overtones.
