FS: B&S 3099w *SOLD*

Post by montgomery.eric95 »

Hello all,

I have decided to go a different route with my F tuba, and have decided to sale my B&S 3099w. From my understanding, this is an early 90s instrument. The horn is very responsive, and intonation is very good! The horn also has a second valve slide trigger that comes in handy when needed.

The horn is located in Amherst, MA. I am willing to drive a pretty reasonable distance if needed, but I would really prefer to not ship the horn. The Altieri gig bag that is pictured comes with the horn. I am asking $5,000 for the horn, plus shipping if needed. Pictures are in the Drive folder below:

Thank you!
Eric

If I'm not mistaken, the designation for handmade on B&S is a "/2" after the model number, so 3099w/2 in this case. I'm willing to bet that this horn is not actually handmade, but are there any other indications in the construction that lead you to think this is handmade? Good price.

Thank you Dr. Combest for your reply. If I am completely honest, I only thought that because it was what I was told. I have edited the post to where it does not say that it was handmade. I apologize for misinformation in my post, I promise that was not intentional to mislead anyone. Thank you again for your help.

I think these are the long lost/forgotten models from the Late 80s imported through Custom Music. These are handmade tubas featuring 2 leadpipes. B&S doesn’t have a indication other then word of mouth or contact with Tucci on if they were handmade or not. However Melton Weston does have a indication that the /2 is associated with the handmade 6450. Hope that helps Chris.

It’s very well possible now with the Buffet etc that they are doing that but in the 80s-90s they weren’t.

Good luck with the sale Eric.

Thank you for your reply. This was the same information given to me. Along with the fact that it was made before the PT numbering system, and was likely one of the horns that was “forgotten about” at Custom Music.

I imagine that it is also important for me to note that I only have one of the two leadpipes.

I stand corrected, I couldn't see the photos and thought this might have been the PT9. Good luck on the sale!
