6/4 five valve BBb

Post by Sam Gnagey »

I'm only selling this tuba because (Let's face it folks!) I'm getting old and it's hard for me to handle a massive BBb safely and comfortably. It's a lot of fun to play with an earth moving low register. I've used it a couple of years in brass band and other large ensembles. I special ordered it from Shandong (Vicky) and it took about 6 months to be made and delivered. It has some minor dings and scratches from regular usage. 20" bell, progressive bore of .750", .787" and 5th valve of .825". It comes with a nice hard case with (thank goodness)wheels. I find it compairable to the Wessex Prokofiev.
It really does make the Eastman 6/4 CCs look small. I know that I would have used this tuba on a lot of the BIG ORCHESTRAL PIECES if I would have had it before I retired 8 years ago.
I've made my personal replacement of it which is a replica of the York 712 model 4/4 BBb.(See first photo)
I vented the first valve, adjusted the reciever gap between the end of the mouthpiece and start of the lead pipe for what I like in response and sound.
I stongly prefer not to ship, but I am willing to drive a bit to meet up with serious buyers with $6750.00 USD to pay for it.
If interested contact me by PM or through my Yahoo tubanurse email.
