Reality strikes - Tuba parts for sale/donation

Post by Chuck(G) »

My health took a big hit over the summer--cancer, namely myxoid chondrosarcoma. Been under the knife 5 times and am told that I'm recovering. However, having passed the 3/4 century mark with many of my companions no longer here, I need to be realistic.

I've got a big lot of old tuba parts (bells, bows, valve sections, etc.). Should I depart this vale of tears before I can dispose of them, they'll most likely go to the scrap metals dealer.

I'd like to entertain offers to come and pick the stuff up (bring a truck; I'm in Oregon) and perhaps compensate me a bit at least for the scrap value.

If you have experience with instrument repair and are interested, please contact me at tubastuff@sydex.com.

I also have quite a number of old instruments and would be prepared to sell those.

Lest anyone think that I'm exaggerating, when I say "Bring a truck", here's a photo of some of the bells that I've hoarded over the last 30 or so years.

That's not all of them; it's what I could fit on the floor for a photo.

With my next surgery looming about 2 weeks away and no takers on this lot, I guess it'll go to scrap. Time is far more important than money in this case.

Too bad--there's some really nice stuff here.

Too bad I'm in the U.K. You don't happen to have any Alexander parts? Mainly a bell and a leadpipe for a 164.

All the best for the op.

Good luck with the surgery.

Would you happen to have a forward facing bell for a 1958 Martin Mammoth?

Thanks.
