We have had unprecedented number of messages regarding the Black Friday Sale, so apologies for delay in response. Will be Sunday before we can answer all. Don't worry the sale prices will be given for all orders placed and paid by Monday.

Jonathan-
Actually a sale going through Monday makes sense... since everything is online, this Monday is known as 'CYBER-MONDAY' anyway, so extending the Black Friday sale through Monday is good. Best of luck!

It still amazes me, but next day AM delivery is usual for FedEx shipments from Wessex UK to USA customers. Van that makes our collection meets truck heading direct to Heathrow airport and only couple hours later they are already flying across the Atlantic. It is quicker than you could make the journey in person!

I hear my Gnome has arrived. I had it held at a FedEx Office store, because I couldn't count on being able to meet the signature requirement today. I'm going to head out in a bit and pick it up.

I'm going to spend some time with it before saying much. But I'll say this right off: it has the smoothest, quietest linkages I've ever experienced on a rotary valve tuba.

I got my $400 open-wrap large-bore tenor trombone today. I got some good notes out of it and am very satisfied so far. Hopefully the trend will continue. Thanks Jonathan!

I received my Wessex bass trombone last week... set it up and played it for Easter Sunday.
For the most part it sounded great! Need to put in some playing time to figure out its sweet spots, but so far so good

Pretty much exact same situation for me. Same delivery time and an Easter performance as well...funny how that works out. Very nice horn.

I purchased both a Bass and Tenor trombone from this sale and been very happy with the purchase. The horns are as advertised. The sound is good and they are of good finish. Especially happy with the Bass Trombone sound. Very nice! Very happy also with the mouthpiece supplied with the Bass Trombone. It was a gold plated 1/4G (maybe 1 1/2G....can't remember right now) but is a great mouthpiece that I use regularly. Wasn't counting on getting that nice of a mouthpiece!

Got mine last week also. Great playing horn, and would have easily been worth the sticker price, so the 1/2 sale was a steal.

A couple observations:

The case I received is FAR nicer than the one pictured on the website. The Wessex case I received has sturdier hardware, a shoulder strap, backpack straps, and wheels.

My case:

Also, the design of the slide grip seems to have been changed, and is now reminiscent of the Urbie Green-inspired PB500 instead of the 7B it was copied from. I find the slide very comfortable with the curved brace.

My horn:

Most importantly, this thing PLAYS. The slide is good now; I'd give it 8.5/10 out of the box, and I'm super picky about trombone slide action. I'm excited to see how it feels after break-in. Big, rich sound. Not as "fluffy" or "slide euphonium" as many of the current designs. The valves feel great, too, if a little slow. I'll give her a bath and see if they speed up a bit. No grittiness, though.

VERY pleased with this purchase.

Thanks for the nice comments. We really are working hard to improve all the Wessex range. I don't know much about trombones myself, but have two professional trombonists on team advising.

The pictures on website are unfortunately often out of date and don't reflect the latest developments, as we add improvements with virtually every batch. The shipment just arrived this month is the first with new design of case. I am not certain if wheels are really necessary for trombone, but don't do any harm and some people may find useful to compliment the back-pack straps and shoulder strap (four ways to carry this case).

All new Wessex trombones now have the curved hand-brace - including the F contrabass
