SOLD: Used Miraphone 1291 in raw brass

Post by mbroschinsky »

Up for sale is a Miraphone 1291 in raw brass. The spit valves and thumb ring were removed by the previous owner. The guys at Landress Brass in NYC made a new thumb ring and post for the instrument. It has a 1292 leadpipe. The wrap on the 4th valve was modified by Alan Baer. There are 4 patches on the horn (1st valve slide, 3rd valve slide, and 2 on the 4th valve slide). I tried to show them in the pics, they are actually a little difficult to see at first. The patches were added when some dents were removed from the tubes coming out of the valves. There is no red rot on the instruments. The horn has a few dents as you might expect on a used instrument but it is in very good condition overall. It was recently serviced and is ready to play. While most at home in a large orchestra, this instrument has a flexible sound and I have used it extensively in pits on Broadway and other, smaller projects.
