Hello all!
I have an early 1900s Ukrainian three rotary (clock spring) valve silver-plated BBb Helicon for sale.
It's a BEAUTIFUL horn and plays really well. The valves work wonderfully (thank you Kevin Bowen at North Georgia Horn Works), the horn plays in tune and my FAVORITE feature is a main tuning slide located between the lead pipe and first valve that is easily accessible and slides effortlessly. Tuning this horn is EASY and in general you're pushed in a bit as you move above high F and pulled out a bit below low BBb.
This horn is a joy to march with and you'll have fun at brass band gigs, street band gigs, second line performances, you get it!! It weighs in at 18 lbs with a 16.5" bell.
I tried to catch the blemishes/dents/scratches/plating wear as much as possible. It is a truly unique horn with lots of play left in it for a professional or student that wants a lush, dark, European sound. Speaking of...
I ordered two Dennis Wick mouthpieces with European shanks that fit perfectly in the lead pipe. One is a Helleberg equivalent funnel shape; the other a deeper cup for the deepest tone possible. They come with the horn and are lightly used.
I am asking $2400 for the helicon, two mouthpieces, two Protec pads (shoulder & bow, both in the pictures) and a beanbag chair that doubles as an excellent helicon stand for your practice room or studio. I live in the Atlanta area and am willing to drive 400 miles in any direction to deliver the horn. If you want it shipped to you, you'll take care of the shipping after I pack it and make sure it will survive the journey.
