So that's in the style of the 983 Eb tuba! . . . I never knew it was made into an F tuba.

The only similarity I see to a 983 is that they are both piston horns. The F does not even appear to be a compensating instrument.

The Besson 985 "Sovereign" F tuba is indeed a compensating tuba. Very limited production (reduced to prototype-only horns probably). People described as great sound F tuba with "curious" intonation.

Perhaps a less wide, less 'pancake' bell would help reduce the 'curious' in the 985's intonation.
