SOLD: BMB J-685 6/4 CC $4000
I'm selling my Big Mouth Brass J-865 6/4 CC. It's a York-style tuba based on the Holton 345. I am the second owner of this horn.
Something distinctive to this brand is the 5th valve. All BMB horns have a dependent 5th valve (it only works with the 4th valve pressed) with the paddle linked to the valve using elastics. The dependent valve gives great sound and response in the lower range at the expense of some alternate fingerings not using 4.
The horn plays great and only has a couple small dents on the bow and bell (with a larger one in the bow having been repaired a few years ago). Only reason I'm selling it is I decided to downsize to a smaller horn.
I'm asking $4000. Horn is located in Madison, WI. I'm willing to drive a couple hours for a serious buyer (Milwaukee, Rockford, Dubuque, Racine, maybe Chicago, etc.)

I just wanted to say, I like the aesthetic of your photos. The silver + gray is sort of mesmerizing.
Good luck with your sale!

Re: BMB J-685 6/4 CC $4500
I could include a couple color photos if anyone wants (I changed them to B/W in Lightroom so it's as simple as switching back), but I thought it would be too distracting. The reflection from the wood floors made it look like a lacquer instead of a silver horn.
