Bump for a good horn...
Who was selling these for 8 grand, though? Or did the US dollar drop that far?

Wasn't Schmidt the house label for Brook Mays? But they SURE never sold them for $8000.
EDIT: I guess the exchange rate has affected the price more than I knew. Brook Mays most certainly IS listing the price at $8000. My apologies for any doubt I may have cast on the honesty of the seller's claims.

Yes, be patient. Although, $4,900 is probably a good price for the tuba; it is still a lot of money and the number of people willing to spend that much on any given day is small. Give it a few more weeks.

I had the opportunity to play a bit on this horn. This really is an excellent tuba. Has a fantastic core to the low range, bringing out the best of the B flat sound. Middle range is focused. Tuning is consistent throughout the ranges.
It's worth what John is selling it for. Definitely deserves a look.
