Hello TubeNet! I'd like to find a new home for my Alex 155! It's a great example of it's brand, I'm just looking to move in a different direction with my equipment.
This is a 6-valve old soul (5 right 1 left) from the early 1960's was previously owned by Ivan Hammond. The horn has been modified with a main slide kicker and a 6th valve mechanism that are both operated at the top of the horn, as well as an extended lead pipe. The 5th valve is convertable and can either be configured as a flat whole step or a minor third. The horn sings beautifully in the mid to high register and plays nice and in tune. For those pitches that might still seem a little out- the main slide kicker is super easy to master! The horn has your typical german rotor issues right beneath the staff, but is better than most at managing them.
The horn comes with a custom prototype Gard gig bag that's about two years old and a hard case fitted with impact foam to support the horn. From what I understand, while under the ownership of Ivan, this horn was regularly shipped in this hard case.
I am asking $8,500 USD for a sale, or trade (plus cash) for anyone looking to step away from a mrp, electra, or bel canto. I would much prefer not to ship, but can be convinced at buyer's expense. The horn is located in the Hartford, CT area. I am willing to drive a few hours to meet with interested buyers/traders.
Pictures will be available as soon as I get it back from being serviced at Dillon Music.
