1931 Martin Mammoth - $3200

Post by Tubajug »

Hello,

For sale is my recently completed 6/4 Martin Mammoth BBb tuba. It has a recording bell and three front-action valves. The horn features a Scotch Brite finish with a polished bell interior and engraving. The valves are what you'd expect from a horn of this vintage. They're not great, but not bad. The slides still pop when pulled. There are still dings and scratches on the body and bell, but, like most horns, looks great from a few feet away.

It comes with a set of Bundy sousaphone bits that work well with the horn. The guard wire on the bottom and two of the three bell screws and flanges were replaced (they are somewhat mismatched, but are all Martine flanges and screws). You can see more of what I've done on this thread.

I've used this for about a year playing jazz charts with a group once a month. The group loves the sound of this thing and it plays super easy with a big sound.

There are no cases or mouthpiece included. Since Greyhound no longer ships, I'd rather not ship this beast. I'm willing to drive 4-5 hours to meet a buyer. I'm in Lincoln, Nebraska, so that puts me within reach of buyers in KC, Denver, Wisconsin, Michigan, Chicago, etc. Being a teacher, I've got some time in June and end of July to travel to meet someone. We are taking a trip out east, all the way to DC and upstate, NY, but I doubt we'd have room in the car to bring this along.

I'm asking $3200. I'm open to offers.
