I've been selling off assorted tuba m.p.'s at bargain basement prices. I'm reducing my Wick "Heritage" style 2.5 CC by five dollars to $80. It's a good m.p., so I won't sell it cheap. It's all silver plated - it doesn't have the gold plating in the cup and along the rim. Denis Wick lists it has having a 32.3 mm wide cup, but it feels more like 32.6 to me. The cup is sort of in-between a Helleberg and a Geib. It has the depth of a Helleberg, but with a slightly more pear shaped bottom. Stephen Wick told me it's based on one of Arnold Jacobs' mouthpieces. The throat isn't small: 8.6 mm. But the "CC" designation means that it has a bigger, more "V" like backbore than most of the Denis Wick mouthpieces do (where the backbore is fairly straight). This bigger backbore does make the tone a tad brighter, but it also helps to make the octaves well in-tune. The octaves were very good when using this on my B&S "Neptune". Denis Wick does call it a "large" shank.

If it'll help you to gauge the fit, the shank is 1 and 3/4 inches long. The shank went into the receiver on my B&S Neptune an inch and a quarter.

I'm selling this because I've gone back to being mostly a Helleberg type player. It's difficult to slur smoothly on the Neptune, and to play it melodically (at least for me, it is). A more funnel like mouthpiece helps me greatly with that. My stainless steel Kellyberg lends me the really dark tone I generally prefer too.

This mouthpiece is in excellent condition, but with a visible insertion mark. Please e-mail me at barrygrrr@yahoo.com
