FS: 1960s Besson 15" bell Eb 3+1 compensating tuba $2,000

Post by arpthark »

For sale is a Besson 15" bell Eb 3+1 compensating tuba in raw brass. Recently cleaned with new felts and corks and dent work done on some of the inner branches. Valve plating is close to 100%.

This is a really nice example of this model with typical intonation (a bit saggy in the upper register, use 9th partial fingerings above the staff) and with a really nice punchy sound. Has the small British/bass trombone shank receiver. I can include a shaved-down-shank, no-name Chinese mouthpiece if you need one, or otherwise a Wick 3 works well.

I owned this tuba back in 2016 when I stripped the lacquer and gave it a scotchbrite finish. I recently repurchased it, but I actually have two examples of this model now and so one has to go.

Does not include a case or bag. Asking $2,000 plus shipping or pickup from Connecticut, or can meet you around New England.

PM me or email beanhillbrass at gmail.
