I have decided to put my 6/4 CC B&S 5198 piston "Neptune" on the market. Ladies and gentlemen, this is a really great 6/4 tuba. It is 3 years old and is in excellent condition. No dents, other than a very small "ping" about the size of your pinky fingernail on the bell. It has a really big full sound, and the intonation is very good on this one as well! It has worked really well for me with a PT-50. I have used it in the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra as well as the Alberta Philharmonic Orchestra, and there have been many good comments made by other orchestral players about its sound.

This horn is similar to the 6/4 B&S PT-7 and is made by the same company in Germany, however this tuba was designed with Mel Culbertson. It also comes with a Pro-tec gig bag. $18,000 US. Price is also negotiable. This great sounding instrument is located in Regina Saskatchewan, a convenient 1800 miles north of Texas, for those wanting to try it out.

Pictures are also available upon request for those who wish to see the horn/case.

Here is what WWBW has to say about this tuba:
B&S Neptune Tubas

The 5198 Piston Valve Model
A large and powerful instrument with a beautiful tone color and incredible resonance. The 5198 puts out a lot of sound, without distortion and yet can still be played with a beautiful, sensitive style. As Harvey Phillips puts it, this horn has the voice of a big man talking softly.

CC-Tuba 6/4 gold lacquer
5 valves (4 piston valves)
5 th valve rotary, thumb, double Unibal linkage
Bore: 19-21 mm (0.748-0.827")
Bell diameter: 520 mm (20-1/2")
Height: 101 cm (39 3/4")

Remember offers are welcome. I am looking to downsize to a 4/4 or 5/4.
Thanks, Mark.
