I am shopping around for a bass trombone to use in my big band.
I am really looking for a Benge 290, but I'll take any leads.
My price range tops out at $1000-$1200.
Thanks!

Wallace,
You have good taste in trombones if you are looking for a Benge 290 bass trombone. I wish you luck in finding one----it's a killer bass trombone. I owned one for three years and played it in orchestra/choral groups. The horn has a great sound, particularly in the low range.
You might want to consider a price range higher than what you stated. Example, I sold my 290 two years ago for $1495 to a school bandmaster in Missouri. Good luck, and I hope you find a great buy.

I have a Getzen 1062, heavy red bell with light weight dual bore slide. Unlike the Benge it is a dependant valve system, but is a beautiful horn in excellent condition. $1250 plus shipping.

That's a great price on Ken's horn. The Getzens are excellent for big band playing. That particular model (1062) was designed with input from Dave Taylor.
