I had a 5/4 Rudy as well, loved the sound. If I were to buy a Rudy again, I would get the 4/4 (really a 5/4). All the Rudy's have a great sound but the 5/4 is just SO big! Really only useful in large ensemble.
If I bought the Meinl F tuba, I would get the piston one. Just personal preference, I don't like rotors very much. (Main reason I sold my Rudy)
For F tubas of that size, I would also look at the Wilson and the Yamaha and maybe the Gronitz though it is the smallest of the tubas on this list and though the low range is quite good on it, it doesn't quite get the same type of sound down there as the others do.
I now own a Miraphone 1291 CC and LOVE it. I would put it against ANY other comparable sized CC out there, even the mighty Hirsbrunners.
The Yamaha 621 CC is pretty much obsolete at this point. It is not versatile at all, you can basically use it for solo and quintet work. But why would you when ANY of the F tubas above would do a better job and be more useful?
Just some of my thoughts on the subject.

If you are seriously considering the 3/4 Yamaha CC, consider the sister model in F. The little F has an astounding low range (better than many bigger F tubas, almost like a small CC) and tremendous agility.
