Would anybody be interested in a 6/4 BBb Holton bell front tuba for $1000? It dates from 1964, has a 24" bell, 8.25" bell receiver, .750 bore, and has good valve compression. The sound is huge and it plays very well, with a great high register and terrific false tones. I haven't noticed any intonation problems, but I've only used it outdoors with a marching band.

This horn is ugly and the condition is rather rough. It has many dents, lacquer that looks terrible, a missing third valve water key, a leak at the bottom bow joint that I cover with electrical tape, and a broken mouthpipe brace. When taking it out of the case for pictures the other day I broke off 2 valve stems, and they will be fixed before I sell it (unless the buyer wants to save $50).

It looks bad, but sounds and plays so much better than a 20J. I'm sure a repairman could knock most of the dents out in a couple hours, and stripping the lacquer off would improve the appearance greatly. I really wanted a monster sousaphone when I bought this horn, and now that I have a monster sousaphone I dont have enough space.

I used a bass drum carrier that distributes half the load to each shoulder, and the horn only weighs 28lbs. Thats a mere $35.71 a pound! Wanna buy it?
