This is a tremendous horn for someone that really wants to move the walls. I've enjoyed playing it for the last few years and really hate to see it go. I've since bought a house and enough unexpected expenses have come my way to finally force my hand. It has to go.

What a gorgeous horn!!
Do you know approximately what year it was made?
From the pics, it looks to have the "large pistons," so is it without the "tone ring?"

Large Pistons. No tone ring. The serial number is hand engraved on the receiver and has the word 'Custom' above it. When I asked Fedderly about this he said that that probably just meant it was one of the first with no tone ring or something like that. Thanks for the compliment!

I take it "joh_tuba" is a fairly tall guy, then.

Doh.. I had totally forgotten about that. It is slightly bent. It's been that way since I bought it. The picture makes it look *much* more bent than it actually is. In my humble opinion this does not negatively affect the response. Ergonomically, I'm 5'10" and have no problem with the current receiver placement. I tend to use a stand only because it is so darn heavy for long concerts.
In the interest of full disclosure I should point out that that area(it's visible in the picture) is where the silver plating is thin/missing. I suspect that the previous owner had some work done to it. A few different solder joints show signs of having been resoldered. At the end of the day I liked how it played and wasn't so concerned with cosmetics.
Thanks for all the interest. Who wants to buy?

I should also mention that all four pistons are vented.

I bought the tuba. It is an exellent example of a 2165 and Joe is a great guy to do business with. I'm sure he's gonna miss this horn.
