Does anybody think its a bad idea, anybody think its a good deal for only $175?

It's a Barebrass Sousa and they say it plays and works fine.

Ok, compare these 2, and tell me which you would rather play on: Jupiter Convertible BBb while marching or the American Standard Eb

And, yes, it answers some questions, I'm just looking for a cheap Sousaphone so I can get rid of this Convertible Tuba.

Simply calling Dave Fedderly or any of the other guy's working there will probably give a better answer to your question than anybody here could. Dave is a stand up guy and will not steer you wrong. I've bought two horns there in the past two and a half years and have been beyond satisfied with their service, and their honesty. Good Luck.

The "2-loop design" has two complete tubing loops for the body, like on a Bb sousaphone. This makes a very small opening on an Eb sousaphone. Here's a photo of the Reynolds version:



The "backlash design" has a larger opening by having the body loop back on itself and using a piece of tubing between the top of the valve section and the main body for support, like on this one:

I called, the French Horn player answered, he said Dave said the sousaphone was in a good playing condition and in nice condition also, so I ordered it.
