I'm just now looking at a new one (a demonstrator) for around 8000 Canadian. What can you tell me about your horn? The middle-low range is great. Not sure yet about high range and intonation, but my impressions are good. The valves are sticking, which could be newness, but what is your experience? WHat mouthpiece works best for you? I've got a Bobo solo on loan that is pretty good, but I think the PT-20(1) that I've been using on my PT-10 works about as well. I've got a PT-36 on order, but it seems to be delayed. Did you say your horn was silver? This one is lacquer. Thanks for any light you could through on living with these horns.

there are many people who could answer this better than I as i have played very few f tubas.The 822 is a very functional tuba.All the notes work(though i'm still not thrilled with low BBb).It has a great low range and a CCish sound throughout.fit,finish and construction quality is great.I have had no mechanical problems.the valves can be a bit finnicky.this is due to the monel alloy they are made of and very close tolerances(which is a sign of high quality,imho).They hold their value pretty well and continue to be popular.The tone quality is often debated here on tubenet.Some like it-some don't(imagine that,a difference of opinion on tubenet).in summary,if you like it and it does what you want it to do, go for it.Mine is spoken for and awaiting payment...
