One way to come up with a reasonable price is to put it up on eBay. Describe it completely an include good photos showing anything significant. If you set a starting bid of $1, but have a reserve of $2000 (about what it would be worth if in good playable condition) the final bid number will be a good estimate of its value. If the price goes above your reserve, then it is sold for a reasonable price.

Another way would be to contact a local music store with experience in tubas (Baltimore Brass isn't too far away from Delaware) and see what they say it's worth.

Hey, I'm in Delaware, too and if you're having beer I'll be there, funeral or not!

Up in Wilmington. And yes, it took some adjusting getting used to the answer of a development name to "Where do you live?" :)
