Have you been charged overweight/oversize when you've flown with the case? Do you know the brand? Thanks

No overcharges

Post by rodmathews »

Hi,

The only time I flew with this case, I wasn't charged anything extra. For what it's worth, this is about the smallest case you could get for this instrument.

Also, I don't know the brand of the case. I'll see if I can find out.

Thanks!

It's been my experience that the mood of the ticketing agent is the biggest reason you are or are not charged for overweight/size.

They have rules of course, but you never know when they're going to enforce them. I got charged for oversize on my F wooden case, while my friend who had a different agent got by with a bigass Walt Johnson 4/4-5/4, no charges.

If you plan on paying extra charges every time you fly, then you'll be pleasantly surprised when you don't get hit. Better than the other way around at least.
