I think this supplies near proof that tuba players (just like everyone else) buy their toys mostly for their APPEARANCE.
This reminds me of the day I bought my Marzan. I phone the wife and told her I had purchased a horn, it was ugly as hell, but oh my god...the sound. When I first took it out the bag, she said "I liked the other one better...it was much prettier than this one". Then I took it downstairs into the basement where I practice and she said serveral hours later "I like the old horn better....the old one i could handle, but this new one shakes the house".

I've wanted to buy that Carl for a while now, haven't gotten spousal approval yet.

I've been hoping it is still available when I do get approval, but this thread is causing me to lose hope . . .

I am looking for somthing like Mirafone 186 Bb 4 or 5 Valves Tuba. Actually, it could be any Brand, as long is it's a Good instrument.
I have a 5 valve Miraphone 186 BBb for sale. Send me an e-mail or PM if you're interested. For what it's worth, it is very shiny.

The problem with TubaTinker's tuba are as follows:
1/ It ain't shiny.
2/ It doesn't have pistons.
3/ The model wasn't invented in the last three months.

Not everyone, bloke! If those three points were my criteria, the two tubas I own would belong to someone else! ;P
My tubas have "character" (read; 'battle scars').
