I have a Friend in Greeley, Colorado, that had his tuba stolen this week. The thieves broke into his car and took his tuba in the gig bag containing all of his music and mouthpieces. It is a MW 2145 CC in an Altieri gig bag. If anyone sees anything or thinks they have found it please send me a message and if you can get the serial number so we can Verify it is the right one. Any help is very much appreciated and the information leading us to it will earn a reward. Thanks for any help.

Check ebay and every pawn shop in the area. A friend of mine and longtime poster here had a tuba stolen and it turned up on ebay (posted by a pawn shop!)What is the serial #? Maybe someone has seen it already.
LJ, any more advice from someone who's been there and done that?

Make sure the police have the serial number. A big-ticket item like that is likely to turn up in a pawn shop. Especially something new and nice like a 2145 would raise suspicion. Best of luck in tracking it down.
A few years ago here in Baltimore, Ed Goldstein's tuba was stolen, and turned up at a local pawn shop. I remember a clip on the news the next day of him playing a "thank you" solo down at city hall the next day.

My old college supplied horn showed up on eBay one time and I contacted Scott Watson. He was surprised that I even knew it was missing and they got it back I believe. It was being sold by a local pawn shop who had gotten it from a student when he used it for a short term loan and did not make the payback in time.
