I am selling my silver-plated Yamaha 321 euphonium.
.571" bore
11" upright bell
4 upright pistons
Despite the small shank, I have found no difficulties in producing enough sound and projecting for the ensembles I have used it with. I have used it in a 40+ university wind ensemble, a 20 piece marching group as well as a 25 piece professional wind group.
I find the intonation to be quite good on this instrument, much better than the English Bessons/Booseys I have tried. The upper register Eb, E and F and G are only about 5 cents sharp. I find the Eb and E in the staff to sometimes be a little low (ie 5 cents flat). C in the staff is in tune with the 4th valve and the B natural below it is only 5 cents sharp using 24. Low F is dead on played 13. Low Eb is a problem, as the horn is non-compensating, but the 1st valve slide is easily pulled to make 14 in tune. Low Db is a little sharp and low C is pretty sharp (pull 1st slide for it).
The silver plate is in real good condition. Valves and slides all move really well. There are only a few minor dents, that don't affect the sound at all, and aren't noticeable at a distance. I will include pictures over the next couple of days.
I am asking $1600 USD (or $1800 CAD) for the horn and the Yamaha hard case, which is actually less than I paid for it, eventhough I improved the valve action. I will also throw in either a Blessing 6 1/2AL or a Bach 7C mouthpiece at no charge. A protec gig bag and/or a Denis Wick 4AY mouthpiece may be added at extra cost.
This would make an excellent Bydlo horn... lots of bang for your buck. Feel free to PM me or send me an email to remp2030@wlu.ca if you have any questions, you're interested or want to make a reasonable offer.
The horn's location is in Southwestern Ontario. I am willing to drive to Port Huron, MI, Detroit, MI or Buffalo, NY to meet serious buyers. Shipping is at the buyer's expense, and I will include a copy of the shipping receipt for reference.
