Does anyone know of a good mouthpiece for jazz tuba? For regular stuff(as in everything else) I use a G&W Taku mouthpiece, but for jazz, I'm wanting a bit more of a grittier, brighter, brassier, and a bit of a in-your-face type of sound. Does anyone know of a good mouthpiece for that?
Thanks!

Probably a C cup F tuba mouthpiece, something along the lines of a C4, may be what you are looking for.

A shallower one, as you probably surmised. The shallow one I have that I could recommend get a serious edge when played hard, but their basic sound is the characteristic lush funnel type. They would be Schilke 62 on the small end, and Marcinkiewicz H4 on the large.

Also have a C4, wouldn't recommend if only because of the narrow throat and generally tinny sound.

I have a PT36 mouthpiece for sale. I used it alot in college for quintet. It has a brighter sound quality and works well for higher register playing. I used it on a CC horn. You might look at the PT36 description on the Custom Music website. Just an idea! I have it posted for $60 which includes shipping.
