Near enough to start shopping for a new home for the Miraphone. Again, I rarely use a CC anyway. Also, the Conn project is not a total restoration - just some parts replacement, valve re-building and such. I just lacked the shop time so it took forever to reach this point. If it turns out a real star, I may take it further. Also, the Conn is far from being the only CC project in my shop - just the nearest to completion.

Just realized that I also have a new MTS hard case that fits this tuba so have revised my asking price(s) to provide flexible case selection options.
As for the Conn project, I promise to post some in-progress photos as soon as I get a chance. That project is an 86J 4-valve bell front CC. It had seen extensive use and had seen some rough repair shop treatment.
I found an exact replacement for the horribly damaged first branch (hammered until it split in two) from the picked over carcass of a monster Eb. Similarly, I found the perfect upright bell from another vintage Conn that had other major issues, but a nice bell. The valves had been badly handled by prior re-fitting attempts. As a result, I decided to sleeve the first casing so that all four could again be the same diameter. Again, I'll try to post some photos before too long. I am repairing this for my personal use so don't expect one of those beautiful re-manufactured, re-finished Dan Oberloh jobs. If it plays well enough, I may do that later.
