Hey guys, looking to sell my Rudy 4345P horn. It's been a great horn for me, but I'm now doing grad school outside of music, and I just dont have time to play much anymore.

I bought the horn back in April of 2001 from Woodwind/Brasswind, and have taken extremely good care of it. Valves always oiled, slides kept smooth, and give it a good washing out every couple months. The horn has the normal scratches from use (belt buckle, watch), and has a few dings, none that are big or noticeable during playing. There is one ding on the back side about the size of a dime, and there is also a small ripple in the bell from the gig bag sliding on the tile floor in the bandroom and slipping out of my hand. Nevertheless, I can possibly get the ripple rolled out professionally if need be.

The horn is a great player, higher and middle registers paly open a beautiful. Like some of the other 4345, the low G/Ab are a little uneasy, but once you adjust to get the notes naturally, the whole lower register is great.

I'm looking to get between $5750 and $6000 for the horn - comes with a Reunion Blues Gig Bag, and a Gold Conn Helleberg in very nice condition.

I'm located in Athens, Ga. if anyone would like to look at the horn locally, or around Atlanta.

I'm new to Flickr, but I think this link will work...

If anyone is interested in a possible trade of some sort, I'm looking to purchase either a Yamaha 641 or Besson 967/8 (Or something comparable) Euphonium to keep myself into music and something to play with my brother and family during the holidays or family gatherings...

I'm looking for a nice compensating euphonium to replace this horn too - if you're looking to move to a nice C tuba and have a eupher you're willing to part with, let me know!!

It's a really nice horn - e-mail or PM Dave Zerkel regarding this horn if you would like a second opinion...

I assume he would be looking for cash in addition to the euphonium. You should send him a PM or an email to discuss the details...

Is it a 4/4 or a 5/4?

Horn is a 4/4. Again, works great for both small ensemble work, as well as large wind ensemble groups.

I just bought one of these used about 3 1/2 months ago and I love it. It's a little bigger than a 4/4, call it s 9/8.

I find it is a great all around tuba. It is sensitive enough to play in quintet and even solos. The upper range is very colorful, bright enough for Berlioz. It also has a real core to the sound that is great for orchestra. You have no idea how much this horn improved my playing. I really do enjoy this horn, and it does really have a colorful sound. It is very enticing to play.

The intonation on this horn is awesome. The 5th and 6th partials are in tune - no flat 5th and no sharp 6th. Same with a third line D which is not flat.

I suppose a lot of people stay away from these because they aren't that popular, although the Rudy rotor models are quite popular. The only downside to this horn, which the seller honestly disclosed, is slightly stuffy low register... but if you work at it and change your approach, it is quite manageable. I just got through the Boosey band version of Holst's Jupiter (a lot of low playing) with great success.

I paid 1K more than is being asked for this horn... and I thought I got a good deal. This is an excellent deal, give it a try!
