Anyone out there ever ship a tuba Air Freight from US to Great Britain? I'd like to hear from you as to experience, cost, etc. Please feel free to post or PM. Thanks in advance!

I can't say that I've had the pleasure of shipping a tuba across the pond, but I have had one experience with shipping an instrument from the UK to this side of the pond, and being on the receiving end.
I shipped a 110 pound gong Air Freight. The process seemed simple enough, and the gong arrived in good order. The cost was about the price of three new Mike Finn mouthpieces.
I went to the Airport to pick up the gong, and yes, I brought a pickup truck.

That 'hat' actually has some provenance; it's a Wuhan China Type that belonged to Dizzy Gillespie!

You might contact someone like Mark Carter, aka Mr. Tuba, in the UK to see how he has tubas shipped to him, so you get a good idea of what's required both on the departure end and arrival end of things.
