MTS cases are well-built and rugged but they are not light.

The MTS 1207V should fit a MW2145. It's spec weight, per MTS, is 27.48 lbs. Add to that the weight of your tuba, mouthpiece, food, beer, and whatever else you normally put in the case. You can get them from BBC, WWBW, Dillon's and other places.

The cases do come with wheels, but the wheels are rather close together and rolling the tuba can be an effort. My experience (with a 1209V) is that you need to push it in front of you slowly. You need to consider how and where you are going to haul the case around, and whether or not you need to lift it.

The other thing with MTS cases is that they are made to fit a variety of horns. The 2145 has a 16.5" bell if I recall. This might require some additional padding for the case to secure the horn. Be sure to check these things out. You may want to give Matt W. Roger L. orr Dave F. a call on this.

Thanks for the info...I guess that is not exactly what I am looking for! Just really your standard wood case with big wheels...I don't really believe any of these are light, but something that is easy to wheel around like a standard B&S wood case or hirsbrunner case. Something along those lines (although I don't know which model might fit a 2145). Again thanks for the info!

I did not see one specifically for the MW2145 but you should call them and check.

Also, regarding the MTS, the case I owned, 1209V, is longer than the 1207V, so stability on wheels may be less of an issue. That's why I suggest you call one of the folks listed above and check it out with them. The wood cases are going to be much more heavier than ABS.

The reason for the creation of the MTS1707V was that on the 2145, the inset in the 1207V case lid puts a lot of pressure on the 4th valve. That's why the lid was changed on the 1707V. If you put the horn in the case and then move the felt from under the button to the top of the valve casng, then close the case and pick it up or apply gentle pressure to the lid after it is closed, when you re-open the case you will find that the felt has been moved up the valve stem baack to under the button. This will show that the 4th valve is being depressed by the lid shape.

A similar thing also happes on the Miraphone 191 - the lid puts pressure on the end of the rod that runs through the paddles.

Wow! Like an idiot I've been carrying a separate cooler! I bet I'll be able to fit at least three 750ml bottles of Unibroue into the bell...

Scooby, is the MTS any harder to wheel around than a traditional wood case for you? (If you have experience with both?).
