Well, I just turned 60, and I'm finding that I don't have the lung capacity to do justice to my treasured Rudy Meinl like I once did. So here it is for someone else to enjoy(sigh). It's about 13 years old. There are minor dings on some of the large bows and on the bell. The lacuqer is in pretty good shape(ca. 90%) considering laqcuer was never one of Rudy's strong points. I've been told by other Rudy 5/4 owners that this is a really great example of the model. It has the second valve slide kicker. I'm asking $6250 for it plus shipping. Please contact me by private email if interested.

Here are a couple more pictures of the Rudy for those who have requested them.

Sam,
What is the purpose of that belt around the bell?

The belt is to damp some of the intrinsic vibration of the bell. I think it helps focus, response and projection. I'm mostly using one of the horns that I built. It looks pretty much like this one:

Say it ain't so, Sam. Giving up such a great horn!

I have played this tuba, when Sam did some tweaks to MY Rudy 5/4. It is a wonderful example of what makes Rudy horns so special. Wonderful overtones, and a rich full bodied sound that speaks with relative ease.

I hope this tuba finds a good home with someone who can enjoy it as much as Sam does/did.

On a side note... Sam's created tubas are incredible! I have had the chance to play 3 or 4 of them now, and they're very consistent and easy to play. If I ever get the dough to buy a 4/4 CC to add to my arsenal, I'll contract him to make me one in a heartbeat!

Just adding that I have a hard case and gig bag for the Rudy that I can include for some extra $.
