Sorry about the repost, but something screwy happened with the code. Anyways, I have a Willson 2975 for sale, and I'm asking for about $4000. It comes with a hard case, and the only thing wrong with it is a few scratches on the bell. If you're interested, send me a PM with someway I can contact you. Leave your email address if you want pictures, because I have them up on Snapfish, and it's just a huge hassle to get them on here. I've already had one person contact me, so don't expect this to stay around for very long.

I bought the brand new B&S PT-37 from Custom Music, and I'm still paying it off. I'd like to keep the Willson, just because it's a neat horn, but I don't have the means. Plus, the credit card interest just keeps going up. You weren't interested, were you?

Wilson lists no "2975" model on their website. However, whatever this guy is selling is probably a euphonium, though he did not specify. Wilson makes euphoniums with model numbers 2900 and 2950.

The model number for the wilson CC tuba is 3050. In other words, to answer your question, it's neither in CC nor a tuba.

I know a guy who has one of these. It's just like the 2900/2950 Bb euphoniums except the 4 valves are in-line, front action, and compensating.

edit: the 2900/2950 are also compensating, but are 3+1

Scroll down to the bottom discription and picture. (google is your friend  ) Yes it's a compensating euph.

Thanks for clarifying that so I didn't have to.

But yeah, it's not listed on the other Willson website because they're not producing them right now. Baltimore Brass had a used one a little under a year ago, but they sold it. This isn't exactly an easy horn to find.

And by the way, this basically is a Willson 2950, just mixed up a little. They're made from the exact same parts.

Actually, I think it's more like the popular 2900 than the 2950. At least it has the same bore and bell dimensions as the 2900.

Willson IS still making them and you CAN buy in the US for approx. $5,500 . I know this because I have looked into it and would love to own one but the price is more than I can handle . I have been told that DEG has two sitting in their inventory right now .

Okay, I guess I had been misinformed about how the 2975 relates to the other models. I even went and measured the bell right now just to make sure I was wrong. Sorry about that.

I also wasn't aware that they were making these right now, so kudos for finding that out! Still, I think the $1500 difference would make mine worth considering, right?

Once again, just pm me if you're interested.

If you're a tuba player used to playing a side/front-action tuba, this is the euphonium for you. Big with a big sound and you don't need to learn how to use your left hand to work the 4th valve.

Another advantage to this arrangement is tuning adjustments. I love the fact that my Marzan, predesessor of the 2975, allows me to adjust the pitch with the left hand. Being a trombone player, I typically do not like to lip pitches. After all I am used to playing a giant tuning slide anyway. I suspect the Marzan has a few more pitch problems than the 2975, particularly above middle C.

Just a side note to the tenor tuba comments:

I used to play this horn in my school jazz band playing the bass trombone part. Instead of my normal SM 3.5, I used the school bass 'bone's mouthpiece (I think it was a Bach 1.5 G). It had a really big sound, basically becoming a real tenor tuba. The high range was a little harder to hit, but it was an awesome huge sound.

Just something to consider.

I tried it with a Helleberg.

No good.
