Hi Alex,

I looked at this device a few times last year. I was concerned about the rod pulling out of the plate with all the holes. Is there a lock or catch to keep it from falling out? Also, how easy is it to put the horn down in your lap?

Thanx.

On the first picture, the top piece is the support rod. On the left side of it you can see a shaped piece the fits in whichever hole in the plate you are using. It's pretty secure, the weight of the euph keeps the plate and rod together, there's no metalic lock.

I never had it come undone while playing, or even accidentally that I can remember.

To put the horn down you have to lift the euph slightly and then remove the rod. The back plate has almost no affect on the ergonomics of holding the euphonium or putting it in most cases.

Hope that helps.
