Reposted due to technical difficulties from the last post.
Currently selling my 2 years old St. Pete model 202. Nickel Plated, light, 4 rotary valves. In wonderful working condition and a great BBb horn for amature, beginnger, or advancing high school student. Has quick response and bright sound. Great for Wind Bands or brass bands. Only a few dings, some scratching where the horn sits on the chair and some wear of the nickel on the backside where my hand rests (all typical of a used horn). Has a few out of tune notes, but as with most horns can be absolved with the use of slide pulling or alternate fingerings.
This is not a professional horn, but for the price the value and quality is outstanding.
$2000. I got my CC and now Im looking for an F tuba, so gotta sell it.

yes, I agree. Don't make judgements about "bumps". And let all who post on here know, that I am trying to sell a horn. If you are not interested or have negative things to say, then leave it to yourself. By being negative you are making it impossible to sell my horn. If someone is interested then let them be, don't cost me a sale because you have a negative opinion.
And as ALL tuba players know, all horns play differently. Don't render judgement because you played one or two examples of a horn and especially since I have played it for 2 years ( AND ESPECIALLY since most bias is due in part to the 201L model, which is not the one I am selling, and the Tuba Exchange's repuation). I am not claiming it is the best horn out there. But I am saying that for a beginner or amateur player, this is a great inexpensive tuba, MTS is an awesome hard case, and the Marcienkiwitcz Rose mouthpiece that comes is well known. So please, don't be rude and make comments that are negative to the seller. If you have thought like such, then send a Private Message and don't litter my post. Thank you

So why didn't you follow your own advice? There was only one negative post, thereby requiring you to send one PM. Furthermore, each bump is in your favor anyway, including this one. So what's your complaint? That a member of the TubeNet freak jury said something less than favorable about the horn you are offering? Big deal!

I usually agree with you TubaRay, but this time not. His post was not negative. He was telling Harold (and everyone else reading) that he would not like people littering HIS thread. I think he has that right.
P.S. I think St. Petersburg tubas have a bad rap, play really well as long as they're handled gently, and blow better than some of those fancy pro tubas.
P.S.S. Sorry for littering your thread.

thank you 'the elephant'. First off, I have to say just cause it happens all the time, I am actually a man and not, in fact a woman...HAHA....blame my parents not me.
I listed this to sell it at a decent price, not to just get rid of it, so that is the price I selected. I also had and never have any intention of being dishonest about the horn. It IS a St. Petersburg....which has a very littered history and selling it will be difficult because of it. My previous statement was only saying that I would prefer people to not make negative comments because such a "fragile" reputation on a brand will make it difficult to sell, not because it is a "terrible" horn.
I do agree that I need to have more pictures and make even more specific statements, and will definetely consider your suggestions in the creation of my next post.
Also, it is not the proper position of other non-interested participants in TubeNet to sway peoples interest in a horn solely due to its reputation. It is the responsibility of the seller to be honest, and the buyer to do his/her homework regarding the sale. (best thing to do, is meet up and PLAY the horn). Now, IF the seller is KNOWN to be dishonest, then PM those saying they were interested in a horn, rather than litter one's post such as happened to mine.
Lastly, just because there were no comments regarding more pictures and interest, does not mean noone were interested. If you read many posts that horns have been sold on, most reply's are commenting on if the horn is nice or such...not prospective buyers, and more often then not, the horns are sold to those who did not even post a reply on the thread. TubeNet is a selling and buying resource...I bought my new CC tuba on it and I find it dissapointing that peope have the audacity to make it difficult and treat another seller poorly.
All I have to say is, use courtesy.

you are mistaken by what I mean.
1st, i was referencing tubenet in the buy/sell area only. I did not articulate clearly about what I meant. I meant that the For Sale section is for selling and buying and should be treated as such. But when I try to sell my horn, I get negative comments because someone doesn't like the repuation my horn is "known" for. I do not attempt to decieve or cover up the brands history or how my particular horn is. All I want to do is be able to list my horn for sale and have my forum free of all sorts of trash talk.
This section of the forum is buy sell. If people wish to discuss the 'evils' of a particular type of horn, do so in the discussion pages...it is a great resource for many things....but while I came to tubenet for many reasons, I posted in the "for sale" to sell, not defend the horn I am selling. It is obvious the horn isn't the best, obviously since I bought a new one! I never claimed this was an AMAZING horn and best in the world. But for the price, someone who cannot afford the best or is just dabbling into playing the tuba, or isn't sure if he wants to keep playing (such as beginning student) then it is not a horrible thing to own.
Also, "It is the responsibility of the seller to be honest, and the buyer to do his/her homework regarding the sale. (best thing to do, is meet up and PLAY the horn). Now, IF the seller is KNOWN to be dishonest, then PM those saying they were interested in a horn, rather than litter one's post such as happened to mine." I was not referring to PMing about the PRODUCT itself as a 'warning'.....I was referring to PMing a potential buyer if the seller is KNOWN to be dishonest!! This is MY horn for sale and it sucks that while I am trying to sell it, and being HONEST about the horn, I still have people being negative and derrogitory and talking it down. I KNOW that anyone in TubeNet selling a horn, would be very unnapreciative if their thread was filled with posts bashing what they're trying to sell.
What I said about potential buyers not posting, I was only explaining that the statements people were saying that there was NO interest in my horn was false because I was recieving emails of interest.
Lastly!!!!, comments such as
[quote]Newer buyers also probably don't appreciate how expensive it is to repair valves down the road and that this particular brand has a long history of valves going bad.
are very general. The 201L model has that history, but NOT the model I own (202L)...and every model of EVERY brand has some sort of issue, and especially in lower end brands or models.
Example....I am looking to buy a violin to learn. I do not want something that is falling apart, but price is important. I have a very low budget which restricts what I can buy...I KNOW that I will not get the best but want to get my money's worth.
For me this is true, and I am REALLY looking for a violin. This being said, why completely knockout a horn when for some buyer it WILL serve it's purpose.
I would appreciate it, if noone would post any more on this thread so that in the future I can repost this horn for sale in this forum (if I even choose to at this point). I feel very disrespected by all the negative participation and remarks that are uncalled for, and think that such an environment should be more respectful.
All I wanted to do was try and SELL a horn.
I do thank the people who posted INFORMATIVE comments.

Yeah, I tend to agree. It's a pity for all horns of any brand that one or two dogs, or a previously poor model can ruin the entire brand. I liked the Pete a lot, and it was a great buy for quality at a time when I could not afford much more. I may be selling it soon though, and Im positive the buyer will be quite pleased.

I want to put in my 2 cents in support of Brooke. I also have a St. Pete's 202N -- got it a year ago. It's a fantastic horn. Good intonation, good tone, great power. Valves are tight, quiet, and smooth. That horn by itself is easily worth $2K price even without the case. In fact, I've ordered a St. Pete's Eb 206N. Can't wait!
If the seller puts it up for sale in eBay i'm betting it will bring in hundreds more.
