Santa's been good to me, and I've been pining for one since I played in the Georgia Brass Band. Looking in the 4-5k range. I'm definately not interested in an upright compensating instrument. I'd be most interested in a Willson or one of the newer MWs, if any of course are available. Let me know what you've got out there.

If you are looking for a horn for mid-upper register playing, then my brief encounter with the Cerveny Eb model 641 several years ago (different specific horn, different store) told me it would be fine. IF, on the other hand, you want to play it at or below the low BBb (two ledger lines and a space below the staff) then I think this would be one of the weaker models of Eb tuba. I would not recommend this particular model as an all-around Eb tuba.

I have a Meinel Weston EEb tuba I am probably putting up for sale. I will be asking about $3400. I will have a more detailed description and pics when I get back into town on Dec. 30.

Hey there stranger... Glad to see you are looking to purchase a horn in a decent pitch for a change... Doesn't Gronitz make an Eb? If not, you should just call him and have him get on that project for you.. It is what any decent Gronitz Artist should do...
Since I know you won't call him, here's another idea... I've heard such great things about this horn:

I think if you picked this horn up, at the extremely modest price, you should have enough money left over to have someone cut it down to Eb for you... I know a guy in your area, while at best a shoddy repair tech, will work for beer... this being a larger job, he might require some single malt scotch to sweeten the deal, but if this horn plays half as nicely as I've heard it does, I can only imagine how sweet it will be in Eb... Good luck in your hunt, and I'll want to play it when you finally do get one...

Gronitz does indeed make an EEb tuba. Know where I can get one used, as I'm looking for something already broken in. I might send them an e-mail and see how long it'll take to get one. Anybody else own a Gronitz EEb?
