Satin Silver 5 Valve King 2341 Price Drop
Satin Silver KING 2341 BBb 5 Valve, 4 piston and 1 rotary 5th valve whole step or flat whole step by Lee Stoffer. Two extra water keys added on 4th valve tubing and 3rd valve slide. Nylon valve guides and plastic coated valve springs. Dillon adjustable Gap receiver. Alteri gig bag included. Horn plays wonderfully well in all registers, intonation is excellent, especially in the low end with the 5th valve. The 5th valve is after tuning slide. Very minor dings and scratches and a nickel sized spot between the bell and the top branch where the finish is worn. Comes with a Marcinkiewicz N4 mouthpiece in excellent shape as well as a few others that are well used (Bach 18 and Conn Helleberg).
This horn new is $5,460 from Dillons. The 5th valve modification was $1,000. The gig bag was around $250 as far as he can remember. All total, it would cost about $6,700 new. This is a great horn for a great price, and I hate to see it go.
I am asking $4,250 and buyer will pay shipping. I will consider reasonable offers.
More pictures can be made available. The horn is located in Kansas City.

I take your point, but note that the claim is ambiguous. If for example, you were to take average volume displaced by a person, then wouldn't persons of less than average volume account for half the total displacement due to persons?snorlax wrote:Mo...Strictly speaking, half the world is below the MEDIAN. Your statement is true only if he distribution in question is normal, in which case mean=median=mode.Liberty Mo wrote:Bump

Hey! It's just a quote, not a thesis topic.Strictly speaking, half the world is below the MEDIAN.
"Half the world is below average and it's not going to get any better.
Dr. David Crabb, 7 December 1985"
Of course if it serves as a bump to help the man sell the prettiest tuba I ever saw, so be it.
I am fortunate to have a great job that feeds my family well, but music feeds my soul.

Yes, I get that, but if you will think a little harder about my example ... note that we're not saying anything about how many people are of below average volume.snorlax wrote:It's tempting to think that way, but it isn't true. Persons of less-than AVERAGE volume might displace more than half, less than half, or exactly half. All depends on the skewness of the distribution of volumes.Donn wrote:I take your point, but note that the claim is ambiguous. In a normal distribution, the mean, median, and mode are the same.
The mean might be above or below the median depending on the skewness of the distribution.![]()
A MEDIAN is a number such that half the items in the data set lie BELOW it and half lie ABOVE it. Not necessarily so for the MEAN (arithmetic average) unless the distribution is normal.

Thank you for all of the interest and even the debate as to the validity of my signature. The horn has sold and moved on to a new home in Illinois. That young man is very lucky.
Thanks for the interest. My new bass trombone was ordered today.

Congratulations on the sale. I almost bought it myself although I have absolutely no place to play a 4/4. I've been considering having Lee put a 5th on my 184 but I don't think I could do without it for the time it would take. I sure am tired of pulling the 1st valve slide.
