Conn 2J 4 Valve tuba

This is a nice 3/4 size CC tuba with Nickel Silver plating on inside of bell. Valves are in great shape no rust or pitting. Pitch is solid, this is a great quintet horn, lots of fun to play. The bottom bow has a few minor dings but nothing serious.

Comes with a Tuxedo Bag in great shape as well. And there may be a possibility of a nice mouthpiece :)

$2295.00 Will Ship DHL Cost for shipping depends on location.

Thanks for looking

It may just be my Mac, but your picture doesn't show up. It only has the little blue box with the question mark in it.

Hmm. After seeing others were fine, I did a right click on the picture and opened it up in a new window. It opened right up. Time to upgrade browsers!

No joke - this just happened to me today! I was returning the old H B Jay eefer to my undergraduate college, and I asked if they had anything else I could tinker with. The music department secretary, who by the way is a 40 year staff member and winner of the highest staff awards the university has been able to think up to give her, tossed me her keys.

I found a 2J in the basement that had not been touched in literally decades. Exactly like the picture. First three numbers of the six digit serial number is 754. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't that put it as 1958? The only things it needs are a good cleaning, valve oil, fresh slide grease, and fix a ding that keeps the 3rd valve water key from opening.

Oh, yeah -- the answer to your questions:
16 inch bell, and my cheap plastic calipers say something in the neighborhood of .656.

Sorry, I don't mean to steal any thunder, but I was so gobsmacked I had to post it somewhere.

If the tuba for sale plays as great as the one I'm borrowing to get tweaked, it is arguably the ultimate quintet tuba with a moderately deep funnel mouthpiece. Whoever purchases this tuba must try, in addition to all the other mouthpieces out there, a Wick 2L or the shallower of the two current Conns. Bigger mouthpieces lose focus, smaller or bowl shaped mouthpieces don't get the round tone.

Hmmm

I believe the Giddings and Webster Alan Baer Signature model MMVI F tuba mouthpiece is a lot of fun on this tuba. Additionally the Diablo, and Matanuska work well.
