2004 Alexander 163 CC tuba for sale
For sale: Alexander 163 5/4 CC tuba.
Handmade in late 2004 with 5 rotary valves (5th valve is a flat whole step). The sound and response are remarkable, especially in the low register. Body and bell are yellow brass and the valves and leadpipe are goldbrass. Horn is in like new condition with the exception of a bit of lacquer wear on the second valve paddle and one or two surface pings that I couldn't even get to show up in pictures.
I pull the first slide for A and Bb at the top of the staff, but otherwise I don't need to touch the other slides. I'm including a MTS hardcase that fits the horn perfectly.
Price is $9500 US and buyer pays shipping
I'm selling it because I'm using my 6/4 for most of my CC work and I just can't justify having two CC tubas at the moment. The horn is located in michigan. Please feel free to come try the horn and I would be willing to drive a reasonable distance to meet with someone, but because I don't want to deal with a damaged Alexander, I can't send it out for trials.
