Just traded in my sousa today for a King 1240 with recording bell. So I'm looking for a upright bell to go with it. The recording bell is not as directional or exposed-sounding as I expected it to be, but still I really want the versatility of having both. Should be the same as a bell for a old style 2340/2341, I think. PM me please, people.
TIA

Yes!
Just to share with others I found an upright 19" detachable King bell in excellent condition through Sam Gnagey, a fellow TubeNetter. He has several available if anyone else is looking for one. The price was very reasonable, but I'll let Sam quote any numbers. He also sold me a case that fits either bell for a very reasonable price also.
Another source: Taylor Music had some brand new 19" replacement bells that they just got in from U(gh)MI that they are listing for $750. Ouch - glad I found Sam, but nice to have another option. Apparently UMI is still manufacturing replacement parts for the 1240, 1241 and old style 2340, 2341, or at least they were until recently. Call Bob at Taylor at 800-872-2263.
Now my only problem is my bell is much nicer than my horn.

Actually, it's kind of nice having horns now that I don't have to baby and be so careful with. I used to be so paranoid with my pristine 187. Even my local solder jockey/repair tech used to get nervous when I brought it in, because he was afraid of scratching it, which he usually did. Now a bump here and there is not a worry.
