I'm selling my Miraphone 1291 BBb 4V tuba including a MTS 1207V case w/wheels, Altieri gig bag and K&M stands (a playing stand and tuba holding stand). I love this horn but have to sell it and downsize to a 3/4 tuba because I have arthritis and it’s getting hard for me to transport the horn to rehearsals and gigs, etc.

Roger Lewis selected this 1291 for me when he was Tuba Manager at the Brasswind, and I purchased the horn new in 2004. This 1291 is like new and is a great player in every respect!

The retail price on all the equipment is $718 (MTS 1207V case ($340) Altieri gig bag ($200-$220), K&M tuba holding stand ($99) K&M playing stand ($79) -- I'm selling all the equipment for over 50% off retail, for $350.

I'll sell the horn and equipment separately, but prefer to sell everything together. Will reduce the price $100 to $5,950 to sell everything together.

I'm in San Diego, and want to sell the horn to someone who can arrange to drive to pick up the horn/equipment, as I don't want to ship the horn. I'm willing to drive a reasonable distance to meet the buyer to deliver. Interested buyers are welcome to play test the horn.

I remember this horn. I selected it out of about 8 that were available. It was a very fine instrument with solid intonation and great color of soundup and down. The low register was very easy to play and quite fun. It was a very unique horn.

Whoever gets this instrument is getting a great player.

Hi Bob,

I love this horn and wouldn't be selling if it weren't for my arthritis....I'm 46 and have Psoriatic Arthritis. I just bought a YBB 621 from a fellow TubeNetter in order to downsize to a 3/4 horn that's easier to transport and so I'll have a horn after I sell the 1291. I can play the 1291 just fine, the valves (with Yamaha euph springs) are very fast and smooth, it's hauling it around to rehearsals and gigs that's unfortunately aggravating my arthritis.

So far so good with the 621, but in the next few months I'm looking forward to trying a Miraphone 282, to see how it compares to the 621. I've heard good things about the 282. I think these (Yamaha 621 and Miraphone 282) are my only good options for a pro level 3/4 BBb tuba, and hope I'll find that one of them will work well for the long term, since playing tuba is the best therapy I've found for my arthritis!
