How do you tell? I can't (ignorance of coarse). It seems to me like it doesnt have enough tubing for a BBb.

Just curious
By looking at the wrap of the main body and the length of the valve tubing.

This horn appears to be a EEb.

For a BBb sousaphone you can check these eBay ads:

King Sousaphone marching band instrument - no case but in decent shape

Cleveland Sousaphone (Tuba) H. N. White Co - laquer not silver

BBb Sousaphone - Conn / Buescher - look like a decent horn

KING SILVER SOUSAPHONE WITH CASE - 1980ish horn

Happy hunting...

After looking at this pic - I am inclined to beleive it is Eb it looks identical. That and the seller says it has a 24" bell.

I do hope I don't sound argumentative, I just want to be sure I get a BBb :)
Sorry, I was editting my post when you came and posted quickly. Yes, I was wrong at first glance and the first King sousa is an EEb. But I added links to several other good looking BBb sousaphones.

Actually judging by the length of the valve tuning slides I would have to say it is a BBb. Also it is a full wrap around style. Someone else sent the seller a message stating that he believed it was a BBb also.
