Anyone out there with a student model slush-pump that's gathering dust? Looking for a cheap (well under $100) one that works well with a hard case and mouthpiece. This is for my son, who is an excellent example of what happens to nice things around a 12 year old... Dealers welcome to respond.

$100 may be pushing the low end a bit but there are tons of old Olds Ambassadors and Holton Collegiates from the 1950s out there on Ebay, in addition to the models Bob mentioned. The biggest problem is getting one with a good slide.

A Yammie 354 of recent vintage for about $200 -$400 with a good slide is probably your safest best if you have to buy sight unseen. These are built like tanks and there are tons of them out there used.

Another suggestion, contact Dan Schultz (TubaTinker). He often has decent student 'bones available. You'll be sure to get a good slide that way.

Ditto the Olds, add the older Reynolds to your list as well.

Thanks for the tips, guys. The first thing I did before posting this was check Dan's website, but he didn't have any listed right now. Maybe I'll PM him.

I found a nice silver t-bone for 35 bucks at an estate sale (and it actually plays!) I also recommend the getzen 300 series I can't say anything about price but I like mine.

What does the TNTJ think of these? (I particularly like the story that goes with the King, although I wonder what the seller is going to do when his beloved horn is sold for next to nothing?)

Sorry Bob, no TinyUrl, too lazy...
