Yamaha YEB321S Eb Tuba with case, silver (a little tarnished) in good condition- $1500. I'm looking to pay off some bills or get another tuba, which ever comes first.
I've owned this horn since 1984 and am the second owner. It was my main ax for a long time.

How does the sound of this horn compare to other Eb's out there? I'm unfamiliar with this horn. In a year or so after some more bill are paid off I will be in the market for a new Eb.
I love the sound of my 1920 Holton, but it has a couple notes that are really bad intonation wise. I took the horn into Matt Walters at Dillon's Music for some minor work and his opinion about future upgrades to my horn. Matt had bad news for me. The original construction of the valve cluster is poor enough (port alignment) that he wouldn't advise sinking a bunch of money into it.
So I've got the OK from the wife to buy a horn in a year or so. My problem is I really love the sound of my little horn (3/4 size) and from what I see in regards to new horns, the trend is 4/4 horns or bigger with larger bells. I'm thinking I'd like something with a med/sm bell, 15" or so. I played a Besson 983 and while I liked it, I want something brighter and cleaner. I'm afraid there might not be a new production model horn that has the sound I want.
If you still haven't sold the horn by mid-winter I may be able to convince my wife to let me buy earlier than planned

There was a lot of discussion on the old tubenet on this model of tuba. the consensus was that it's a great tuba for the price. New goes around $3k and used goes for about $1500-2000.
The low range is easier to play than my MW F. It would make a good all-around horn for band, quintet, tuba quartet, solos, etc.. This was my only horn I had for 15 years until I bought my Rudy and suited me fine. I just don't want this horn to sit around not being played.
It is a little tarnished and does have some small dents and dings (easily fixed).
