Alex F for sale SOLD
I'm posting this for a buddy of mine. He's got an older Alex F tuba for sale that will be available for play tests at the upcoming Army Tuba conference. Sweet Alex sound that is very well in tune. Low register responds well. Great solo horn. I've also used this on Hungarian March with orchestra and didn't feel overwhelmed at all. I only have the one pic, but come see for yourself at Ft. Myer next week. $4200 w/ old red Reunion Blues bag, $4000 without. I'll pass on contact info to interested parties.

Re: Alex F for sale
Rob, I only mentioned this because this horn is smaller than any PT10/15, 45SLP, or any number of "orchestral" tubas. As it should be there is significant interest in this horn. I would have bought it a long time ago if I had the funds at the time. I lucked into another Alex F a couple of months ago and couldn't be happier with the purchase.tuben wrote:If you are playing an Alexander in any setting and feel overwhelmed you are doing something wrong!!jtuba wrote:I've also used this on Hungarian March with orchestra and didn't feel overwhelmed at all.

Re: Alex F for sale
Hi Folks,
I know this particular Alex F. In fact, this horn was formerly owned by Floyd Cooley and was the horn he used to record the Jabba the Hut solo on the Skywalker Orchestra cd. Check it out if you have not. He sounds fantastic on it.
Anyhow, this horn started out as a 3+3 set up some years back. Floyd ordered the valve set from Alexander and had it set up the way it is now by a well repairman. Someone will get a nice horn a a great price with a bit of neat history as well.
The person selling this horn is a very close friend of mine and a wonderful guy. He'll do nobody wrong in a business transaction.

There have been a couple of trade requests, one of particular interest. Joe's more interested in cash, but may entertain trades as well.

Re: Alex F for sale
Are you sure this was Floyd's? I had one just like it I sold to someone in the Northwest. Is it gold or rose brass? One of those, I wish I had never sold it moments. If I had the bread, I'd buy it in a heart beat!

Re: Alex F for sale
Is this horn still for sale? I'd be interested in trying it out, possibly even purchasing it. I'm in need of an F horn, even more desperately because my studio only owns one

I knew something was odd... you can see the short leadpipe filled in for the missing valve...Pete Link wrote:Hi Folks,

I had a 3+3 Alex F for a while. I too converted it to 5 valves... but it never touched the "first love" of my life, my college's Alex F. Incidentally, the 3/4 step 5th valve on that horn worked. It worked very well, actually. Same setup on my 621 Yamer F doesn't work at all. But the %$@#ed up pitch on an Alex worked very well, surprisingly.
Sigh!

The horn had a buyer, but that seems to have fallen through. The horn is still for sale. If I sent you Joe's number and you're still interested, call him. If you need his number, PM me.
