Hey, A good friend of mine (Jerry) is looking to sell his Holton 345 BBb. It is a very special horn, it has a great sound, good intonation and plays easy for a big horn. It's an older horn and it is not pretty, but I can't stress how good it sounds. Jerry has used it in all sorts of groups from Bands (to include playing with the Army Ground Forces Band tuba section) Symphony Orchestras, brass bands and chamber music settings.
Mike Moore (tuba Atlanta Symphony) is not shy about saying that Jerry has one of the Best tuba sounds in Atlanta. Pictures will follow soon, this is a great piece of our tuba history and I hate to see that Jerry is selling it. He is now asking for $7,000 his email address is: musiclessons345@yahoo.com" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank

How does it compare to the Willson 3050? (I see you stay with Willson...) I played a 3100FA-5 so your comparison should give me an idea of how a Holton 345 would sound.

thx, Wim
I'm only giving a thumbs up to Jerry's horn. . . I don't need a BBb tuba these days. His Holton 345 produces a true American BAT sound.
I've never played a better brass instrument than this horn. Its tone is huge and gorgeous, its intonation and response are nearly flawless. If I could afford it, I'd be all over it.

That was mine, and Lee kindly agreed to try and sell it for me. It almost sold, but I was already regretting it, and decided not to accept the slightly-below-asking-price offer. I did finally end up selling it, as the restoration queue (I dreamed of having it restored in bright silver, with a 5th rotor) at Oberloh's and other places was just hopelessly long, but I do miss it and the wonderful sound it made...
Thats my tuba teacher's horn. Its AMAZING. I absolutely love it! I wish I didnt need to buy an F tuba first... otherwise id have it, but i guess thats how things work out. This is a wonderful horn coming from somebody who has taken incredible care of it. Great buy
