Of course, you can buy this Conn "Chief" off of eBay this morning for $673...or whatever ends up being the winning bid... Rolling Eyes

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 3764778981
US $79.00

The original woulda been cheaper than the dillons copy.

Andy, I have a Conn 1 which is an identical to the Conn Cheif on the inside if you want to borrow it. On the outside, it looks just like a Conn 2. It isn't in the greatest shape.

A friend of mine who is professional horn player, can tell distinct differences between supposedly identical mouthpieces. He will get two or three "exactly the same" cups on trial, and buy the one he likes best. He does the same thing with rims (screw rims.) I changed rims recently because I liked the reverse contour of the new one, and he tried mine, liked it and ordered two.....which he said were tremendously different from each other, AND gave him a different SOUND from his previous rim. THe funny thing is I can hear that his sound is different with different rims!! Not to mention cups.
Now, I sound about the same on everything, more or less.
Is this just a horn thing, or are there tuba players whose sound changes with small rim changes?
