Re: FS: Miraphone 1281 Petrushka F tubaThis is an excellent tuba! Quite honestly, I've never been a big fan of the production versions of this instrument, as they just didn't have the same color of that prototype I played a few years ago. Chris's tuba, on the other hand, is the closest to that prototype I've ever played. It really has a great sound, and the intonation is fantastic. Truly one of the best versions of the 1281 I've ever played.
Re: FS: Miraphone 1281 Petrushka F tubaHey,
I heard Chris play this tuba at IEI this summer here in Atlanta and he sounded great on it. A nice big warm sound with a nice clean articulation, I wouldn't hesitate to buy this horn. Bill Without inner peace, outer peace is impossible.

Re: FS: Miraphone 1281 Petrushka F tubaWhat Bill said! If I had the money, this horn would be mine.

Re: FS: Miraphone 1281 Petrushka F tubaLike I said in the post about Chris' CC tuba for sale: I doubt anyone maintains their horns better than Chris does. So rest assured, if Chris says "like new" condition, I would bet Chris' horn would be difficult to tell apart side by side from a brand new one. I did play this one as well, and my little joke with these horns is: The response is so good, the horn plays before you do! Intonation, sound, and response are all great. Also, an attribute that doesn't get talked about enough in evaluating horns is the the mechanical integrity (i.e. do the valves work well and will they work well for a long time). Both this tuba and the CC have excellent valves in my opinion.
Re: FS: Miraphone 1281 Petrushka F tubaThis tuba is headed back to Boone, North Carolina with me.

Re: FS: Miraphone 1281 Petrushka F tubaChris picked this horn from a batch of about 7 as I recall. This one was a true stand out and he sounds great on it. Heck, anyone would sound great on this one. This horn was incredibly easy to play and extremely well in tune. Bump for a great horn.

Re: FS: Miraphone 1281 Petrushka F tubaI've played this horn. It's a fantastic Petruschka. If you know the horn, and were thinking of getting one, you don't need to try this horn. You won't find a better Petruschka. Scratch that. Mine's pretty good. Okay, if you want the second-best Petr...
Seriously, it's a superb F tuba. Chris takes incredible care of his instruments and you can be assured it's probably in better condition than new.
